  • I have posted Exam, Quiz, Worksheet and clicker points in Opens in new windowD2L.  Lab scores are not available unless your instructor is entering them.  You can check what points I have recorded for you by going to the Chem 105 class (lecture section) on D2L.   Please ignore D2L grade colorations, and minimum and maximum values in the statistics, because D2L is doing something funny with these.
  • I HAVE POSTED A MIDTERM ESTIMATED GRADE in Opens in new windowD2L as well.  It is a projection of the score you will get if you continue to perform similarly to the way you have so far.  This is calculated as follows:
5*(Exam Average) + (Worksheet score assuming you miss no more discussions) + 8*(Quiz Average) + (Present Clicker Points) + (150 pts for Lab).  The points for lab are the usual average score based on experience with past classes.  There is not usually a very large spread in lab scores and most people do better in lab than the rest of the course.
  • At present, I am projecting slightly above average performance from this class.  The average in the class may be at the low end of the BC range, rather than in the C range, as is usually seen.  I am projecting that at least 80% of you have a high probability of getting a C or better.  This is very good!  The last time I taught the course about 73% of the students finished with a C or better.  Nationwide the C or better rate in general chemistry I is closer to 60%.
  • Please come see me if you are not doing as well as you would like or as well as you think you can.
