at Reeve Union on the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Campus.
UW Oshkosh is located in Oshkosh, WI
(pop. ~63,000) at the intersection of the Fox River and Lake
Winnebago. "Oshkosh on the Water" is known for excellent
recreational fishing and boating, and as the headquarters
of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
The Department of Chemistry is located on the fourth floor of Halsey
Science building. Renovations in 2000-2002 resulted in updated
teaching laboratories and customized spaces for research.

Featured Speakers:
- Dr.
F. Fleming Crim
(UW Madison), Vice Chair of the ACS Committee on Professional Training,
will talk about revisions
to the ACS Guidelines for Undergraduate Chemistry Programs.
Dr. Crim received the 2006 Irving Langmuir Award in Chemical
Physics and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences.[Abstract]
- Dr. David Reingold
(Juniata College) will describe "organic-first"
curricula. Dr. Reingold, the author of a text designed
for organic first curricula, is an active member of CUR (Council on
Undergraduate Research)
and Chair of his department. [Abstract]
- Dr.
James Spencer (Franklin and Marshall College) will present
the NSF-supported POGIL
(Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) project. Dr.
Spencer is co-author on a
number (1,
2,
3)
of chemistry texts that incorporate research-based pedagogical
techniques. He is the 2005 recipient of the Pimentel Award in
Chemical Education and the 1999 ACS Award for Research at an
Undergraduate Institution. He is
also a founding member of CUR.
