Chapter Review Notes
The end of chapter Key Terms, Key Skill and Concepts, and Key Equations and Relations are as good an overview or review sheet as I could make for you.  The only thing better would be for you to make your own review sheet (See below).  In each chapter review section there are a few things that you are either not responsible for or that need clarification.  I include that information for each chapter below.
Chapter
11
12
13

16
17&5.5

Chapter 11
Contents of the review section appear to be complete.  No comments.

Chapter 12
Contents of the review section appear to be complete.  No comments beyond reminding you of the typo correction below:
Chapter Review (Page 601).  Section 12.9 is part of section 12.6.  Section 12.10 is actually 12.9.  Section 12.11 is actually 12.10.

Chapter 13
Contents of the review section appear to be complete.  Note that you are not responsible for being able to identify an enantiomer as being R or S type.

Chapter 14
You are responsible for everything mentioned in the review section EXCEPT for the half-life of 2nd order reactions. Half-life of first order reactions, which you are reponsible for, is discussed more completely in chapters we covered last semester (sections 1.5 and 2.8).

You should also note that there are no known examples of termolecular elementary reactions that play a significant role in a reaction mechanism.

Chapter 15
This review section is complete.

Chapter 16
You are responsible for everything in the review section EXCEPT you are not responsible for using equation 16.24.  You still must understand how to used Ksp.

Chapter 17 and Section 5.5
The review material in the text is complete.  However, remember that you are not responsible for knowing the exact reactions used in various batteries.

Chapter 18
The review section in text is fine, but you should also be reviewing based on the items on the chapter 18 reading assignment.  Remember you need general information like smelting involves reduction with CO for most metals, Al is reduced electrolytically, what structures in polymers lead to what physical properties, etc...

Making Your Own Review Sheets
The process of making a review sheet helps to set concepts in your mind.  It will not do you much good if you do it by copying the review material at the end of the chapter.  The most effective way to make the review sheet is to go through the chapter looking for key terms, concepts, equations and relations.  Many of these items will be in bold face, italics or set off in some other way.  The headings for sections are also useful guides to key ideas you should be familiar with.  Then go through the suggested homework problems and make groups of similar types of problems.  Try to come up with a label or description for each group.

I hope some of you find these suggestions useful.
