Nitrobenzene Vibrations
Nitrobenzene Vibrations
An experimental IR spectrum of nitrobenzene was obtained
from the NIST database, as shown below.
The absorption of infrared light can be correlated with the optimized
geometry and dipole moments determined by the ab initio results of the DZV
basis set. The N-O stretching vibrations
are shown to occur between wavenumbers of 1475 – 1550 cm-1 and 1290
– 1360 cm-1.
